Remembering Sri Sri Daya Mata

Dear blog viewers, today’s post is dedicated to Sri Sri Daya Mata, a great disciple of Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, for her 100 th birth anniversary. (1914-2014)

FIVE ESSENTIAL QUALITIES OF A DEVOTEE:

Sincere yearning for God : Greater than any other accomplishment is to know your creator. Awake! Do not delay your search for Self- Realization, and you will find, if you have the zeal, that through Kriya Yoga India has come to you offering diamonds of immortality. And as you awaken your desire to know God, you shall decorate yourself with immortal realizations….

The desire for God should be foremost in your life, whatever your situation may be. You should not have any other desire stronger than the desire for God.

Loyalty and dedication to God and one’s Guru: The only way to attain salvation is to have complete loyalty to God. This dream of life will be taken away from you one day; the only thing that is real is the love of God.Nothing else; all are false dreams. Get away from them. Every minute I see how necessary that is. behaviour:

Right behaviuor: To be spiritual is not to be an angel with wings, but something infinitely greater— one who is in touch with God. You must live differently than the ordinary man, who is in touch only with sense consciousness. Spiritual consciousness lies in absolute victory over human consciousness. Now, spirituality does not mean only to meditate; it embraces a very wide field of controlled existence……to meditate, on the one side, and be angry or lead a desultory life on the other, is like putting your feet in two boats going in opposite directions. You must not only meditate but also learn to behave.

Humility: I have seen some who come to the ashram and from the beginning try to teach us, when it is they who need to change themselves. asauch persons do not belong in the ashram. We look for those who are harmonious and humble , who will co operate one hundred percent with the work of our line of Masters through Self- Realization (Yogoda Satsanga Society of India)

My greatest wish is to change souls, to turn them toward God…..Those who want God and come to me with receptive hearts shall never be the same again. They shall realize a great truth: “When this ‘I’ shall die, then will I know who am I.”

Daily Meditation: Only by meditating can you know yourself as the soul, in which lies your true eternal relationship with God.

Writing is something that helped me discover the creativity and the expressionism that was hidden under the deep layers of my soul. And me!
