What is the Proof of Self-realization?

If you imagine something very strongly, it becomes visible as a hallucination, having no intrinstic reality. You should understand the difference between imagination and Self- realization. The essential proof of Self- realization– of God’s consciousness in you–is to be truly and unconditionally happy.  If you are receiving more and more joy in meditation, without cessation , you may know that God is making manifest His presence in you. If there  is a break  in the flow of divine happiness, then there is something wrong in your consciousness, some kink that needs to be removed with the help of your guru.By maintaining steady communion with him, through daily meditation and by following his precepts— the sadana he has given you — he will straighten out that kink for you.

You cannot be with the Lord just by thinking you are divinely enlightened. You must improve yourself– you must perfect yourself. There is a lot of difference between the potential realization of God and the actual realization of God.You can never know Him expect through humbleness, wisdom, and devotion. The humble man is the one who will know God.

Those who go deep in the superconsciousness automatically develop unusual spiritual powers, and control over natural forces. But no man of true God- consciousness ever uses his powers unwisely, for egotistical display. Sages realize that the Lord is the Sole Doer, and humbly return to Him the extraordinary gifts He has bestowed on them. Is not everything in the  universe a miracle? By his mere existence is not man a miracle? If human beings are not satisfied with all the wonders that God has created, why should His saints perform further miracles? They never do, unless— for some special reason, often an unfathomable one— the Lord so commands them.

Sayings of Paramahansa Yogananda

” Sir, what passage in Autobiography of a Yogi do you consider the most inspiring for the average man?” a student asked. The Master reflected for a while, and said:

These words of my guru, Sri Yukteswar: Forget the past, Human conduct is ever unreliable until man is anchored in the divine. Everything in future will improve if you are making s spiritual effort now.”

How can a saint take on himself the bad karma of others?” a student asked. The Master replied:

“If you saw  that a man was going to hit another, you could step in front of the intended victim and let the blow fall on you. That is what a great master does. He perceives, in the lives of his devotees, when unfavorable effects of their past bad karma are about to descend on them. If he thinks it wise, he employs a certain metaphysical method by which he transfers to himself the consequences of his disciples errors. The law of cause and effect operates mechanically or mathematically; yogis understand how to switch its currents.

“Because saints are conscious of God as eternal Being and inexhaustible Life Energy, they are able to survive blows that would kill an ordinary man.Their minds are unaffected by physical disease or worldly misfortunes.”

“Most men are interested in miracles and wish to see them. But my Master, Sri yukteswarji, who had control over all natural forces, held very stern views on the subject. Just before I left India to lecture in America, he said to me: ‘Arouse in men the love of God. Don’t draw them to you by displays of unusual powers.’

“If I walked on fire and water, and filled every auditorium in the land with curiosity-seekers, what good would come of it? See the stars, the clouds, and the ocean; see the mist on the grass. Can any miracle of man compare with these essentially inexplicable phenomena? Even so, few men are led through nature to love God– the Miracles of Miracles.”

“Master, I am conscious only of the present life. Why have I no recollection of previous incarnations and no foreknowledge of a future existence?” a disciple inquired. Paramahansaji replied: ”Life is like a great chain in the ocean of God. When a portion of the chain is pulled out of the waters you see only that small part. The beginning and the end are hidden. In this incarnation you are viewing only one link in the chain of life. The past and the future, though invisible, remain in the deeps of God. He reveals their secrets to devotees who are in tune with Him.”

“I understand you have two kinds of members——those who live in the world, and renunciants who live in the hermitage,” said a visitor.”Which kind is following the better way?”

“Some persons love God so deeply that nothing else matters. They become renunciants and work here for the Lord only.” the Master replied.”Those who must work in the world to support themselves and their families are not debarred from divine communion. Ordinarily it will take them longer to find God, that’s all.”

“Master, tell me the prayer I should use to draw to me most quickly the Divine Beloved,” a Hindu devotee said. Paramahansaji replied: “Give God the gems of prayer lying deep in the mine of your heart.”

“Most persons are engrossed in material things,”the Master said. ” If they think of God at all, it is only to ask Him for money or health They seldom pray for the supreme gift: the sight of His face, the transforming touch of His hand.

“The Lord knows the course of our thoughts. He does not reveal Himself to us until we have surrendered to Him our last worldly desire; until each of us says: ‘Father, guide and posses me.”

Art of creating spiritual children and of rearing them beautifully

My today’s post is dedicated to my beloved dad who is resting at peace.

Thank you dad for teaching us the values of life, teaching us the importance of life and teaching us about God. Dad I am proud of being a part of you!!!

Parents should remember that their mental attitudes and spiritual development can make it possible for spiritual children to be born to  them. Each mother carrying a child should remember that her particular good or bad nature, her salutary or ignoble thoughts, and her actions toward her family and others, will greatly influence the nature of her baby…… spiritually developed parents could save the world and make it heavenly by creating spiritual children and by living a life of moderation, self-discipline, and meditation.

In this modern age, every body needs to be trained, because they have so much temptation placed before them.  parents should train their children to develop a taste for better habits. Consider  more seriously the responsibility of guiding your children. Many bad habits are imposed on them in the environment of the schools! Influenced by other children, they feel they have no choice; if someone doesn’t join the crowd and smoke or drink, he is considered a sissy. Why have children today gone astray? Children need guidance . If you put a seedling in the earth, in order for it to become a strong, healthy plant you have to tend  its growth– surrounding it with a little fence, supporting it with posts or tying it with string so it will grow straight. Other wise, it may grow awry. Parents have a God- given  responsibility to teach and guide their children, from the earliest age. These truths people seem to have forgotten; these are the failures that have contributed so much to today’s problems.

Take time to talk to your children.Take time to give them understanding.  Take time to listen, rather than saying, “Don’t bother me. I don’t have time now.” Help them to feel that they can ask you anything. Help them to cultivate a sense of responsibility, with in limits that are appropriate to their age. Avoid putting unreasonable expectations on your children. But teach them to have faith in God.Talk to them about God and how much He loves them, and about those things that are really important in life—–being truthful, being unselfish, doing one’s duty and helping others.

Punishment may be necessary occasionally to impress an important lesson. But don’t be the kind of parent that scolds or spank the child simply because you are feeling cross; then only you are taking your own anger out on the child. Remain calm and try to help them to understand.Explain to them why they should carry out their duties, and the benefits to themselves  and others.Teach them  that what  we do , what we give, comes back to us.These is a tendency either to be too lenient  with children or too harsh; strike the happy balance. Do unto the child, in other words, as you would want done unto you.
